Coronavirus - N19 - Update #20 Through Window Visits

7/2/2020

Schedule a Through Window Visit

Summertime is here and we are hoping you will take us up on an opportunity to do a Through-Window Visit with your loved one. While nursing homes are still mandated to not allow visits due to COVID19 we are hoping these Through Window Visits will give you comfort by sitting and talking with each other through our patio windows.
If you feel Through Window visiting would be supportive to the mental wellbeing of your loved one we would be happy to assist in scheduling this time together.

Email Kathy at  kferrara@chapinhome.org

To allow as many people as possible to enjoy these visits we ask that you schedule your visit a few days and even up to a week in advance.
Chapin Home must continue to adhere to both the Department of Health and CDC guidance around visitation and infection prevention. Visits will be slotted for 20 minutes to allow for cleaning the area for the next visit.

We hear your heart wish to see your loved one and thank you in advance for understanding the need to be diligent in our efforts to keep your family member safe.  Please read the Important Visiting Information below.

Looking forward to seeing you once again even if only through a window.

Through Window Visits take place on Tuesday or Friday or Saturday
between the hours of 1:00 PM and 4:00 PM

If you have a regular video chat we will switch one out to allow for staff to be available for these in-person visits.

Important Visiting Information
  • Visits are by appointment only
  • Visits are scheduled for 20 minutes in length
  • Please arrive 10 minutes prior, announce self to security and find a seat on a bench in front until it’s your visit time
  • Please bring copy of Guidelines signed (unless we already have a copy on file)
  • Visit during your scheduled time if you come late your visit will still have to end within your scheduled time.
  • There may be up to three residents receiving visits at a time, for ease in hearing - please be aware of volume of voices
  • Our Windows will be closed at all times during these visits
  • Parking for 1 vehicle will be available in parking lot
  • No more than 3 people can be on premises visiting at window at a time
  • Visitors must leave premises immediately following visit to allow for next scheduled visitors
  • Masks must be worn at all times on premises
  • Social Distancing must be followed at all times while on premises
  • DO NOT COME IF YOU ARE SICK
  • Bring your phone so you can hear each other
  • If you bring an item we can make sure your family member gets it as they return to their unit. We cannot assist with eating/drinking.
  • Visits are scheduled every other week in most circumstances
  • These visits are not right for everyone.  As important it is for you to see your loved one, we have recognized that these visits are not right for everyone.  Not being able to touch or even be in the same room, may become very confusing even highly agitating. We will work with you and support any decision you make to have this visit, but will also remain attentive to the elder in our care to make sure his/her mental health is supported. Reminder: we continue to offer Video Chats daily as an alternate to visiting.
  • Cancellations: Please email me at  kferrara@chapinhome.org or call me at x2120 if you have to cancel, otherwise your loved one will be waiting for you at the time scheduled.
  • Chapin Home reserves the right to suspend Through Window visits at any given time.
